Unless you’ve been living under a rock, then you know that the Jonas Brothers are back and attacking the pop music scene. After a six year hiatus, the revival of the JoBros  has been received well by fans both old and young. The fandom that grew up listening to the OG pop group is ecstatic with their return to the music scene, and we cannot wait to see what more is in store – full album? A tour?  The possibilities are endless!

It is time for more of these artists from the 2000s to come back to the music scene? Who is next? The young fandom these artists had ten years ago are now in their mid-to late 20s, and are ready to be graced with comeback music. Music and technology have changed drastically since these listeners were younger, with social media and streaming services changing the way music and artists are gain fans.

Marketing and influence looks completely different now than the start of the century, which could play to their advantage if they were to comeback with the proper branding. The return of the Jonas Brothers brings light to several other pop groups we may have written off to the past, and I think we will start to see a lot more pop artists return.

If the 90’s boybands of the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC* can hold onto their relevance in the music world, why wouldn’t a new Paramore album full of both modern and nostalgic visuals and songs see the same amount of success?

A classic 2000s icon, Taylor Swift, has also recently made a comeback into the charts. Transitioning out of the years of a dark, ‘bad girl’ aesthetic, T-Swift is back to her classic style of bright and happy colors – a resurgence long awaited. This ME! collaboration with Panic at the Disco! also represents the comeback of early 2000 pop groups, as they just sold out their first world tour since 2011.

But, let us not forget the key to successful comebacks: good music! The Jonas Brothers came in hot with Sucker and Cool, and these songs and music videos did not disappoint!

The JoBros were also not completely forgotten, as they have stayed relevant in pop culture as individuals – Nick and his beautiful, extravagant wedding with Priyanka, Joe and his cake by the ocean with DNCE, and Kevin – well, what has Kevin been up to? Does anyone know?

A combination of missed and successful 2000s pop artists, good music, and modern day relevance will bring about more successful resurgences.

All this to say, I think this is just the start to the resurgence of prior pop artists who have been in hiding. If the stars align and the patterns continue, could we possibly be looking at a One Direction reunion? Only time will tell…but the boys just need to know, we are ready for it and we will wait for it!
